Marketing a Contest with Sky Helicopters and Fluid SPA in Langley

When it comes to marketing event-related contests, we’ve grown to utilize a few turn-key strategies to assist in their overall awareness and results at Agency Media. Our formula may seem rather simple, but utilizing multiple web properties, social media accounts, and a minimal, but effective paid strategy, we have been able to effectively run contests across our digital ecosystem for some time. Recently Fluid Spa in Langley and Sky Helicopters partnered with a free-to-enter contest to win a free Father’s Day craft beer flight from SKY. The contest is open to the public but also was first released to Fluid’s clientele.

We first started by developing a custom landing page on Fluid’s website where the contest would be promoted. You can view that contest promotional page here. We identified key search terms and creative to ensure that when promoted with paid media (specifically on youtube and social media) the posts and ads would have an impact. From there the fun part; where we get to really put data to use and acquire some additional web traffic to both brands. We launched the actual contest entry page on Sky Helicopter’s website to drive additional traffic through to the sky website for the actual contest entry.

You can see how this would effectively create awareness for both brands. All of our paid and organic social traffic was being directed to the Fluid website, where we were able to target potential clients who may be interested in the spa’s services by interests and search behaviour and then drive those same website visitors over to the Sky website where we collected entries for the contest.

Some may say that there are too many steps involved in this contest — but one thing I have found is that if run properly, digital campaigns can have some “hoops” to get through and those wanting to submit an entry to the contest won’t mind taking a few extra steps.

We now have new audiences to target on future campaigns, a large contest entry base to engage with and of course, at the end of the day we will be giving away a flight to a lucky father to celebrate his day!
